The course covers a large spectrum of disciplines that are at the core of advance marine robotic systems design, implementation, and testing. As a key distinctive feature, we will afford the participants a well balanced presentation of theoretical and practical issues pertaining to marine robotic systems design. The conceptual aspects are firmly rooted in dynamical systems theory and optimization, and in techniques for navigation, guidance, and control of single and cooperative marine robots. The course will also cover the steps required to go from concept to practice, with hands-on experiments illustrating the use of hardware-in-the-loop simulation tools using Matlab and the participation in demonstrations with underwater vehicles developed at NIO. The school will also feature a series of lectures and demonstrations with real equipment devoted to Networked Acoustic Systems, with applications to multiple vehicle communications and single/cooperative navigation and control.
How Science and Technology go hand in hand: technology affords scientists new tools for ocean exploration and exploitation; scientific endeavors raise new challenges to marine systems designers.
Lectures by recognized experts on theoretical topics that are at the core of marine robotic systems design, implementation, and operations at sea.
Presentations of recent successful developments on marine robotics and communications with a strong impact on science and commercial operations.
Demonstrations with marine robots and acoustic underwater networks.
Guided visits to NIO Laboratories (marine robots, acoustic systems, and instrumentation).
Short selected pitches of 10 minutes.
Futuristic Vision Awardto the presenter of the best P3 pitch
The 6th Marine Robotics School (MRS) will be conducted at CSIR National Institute of Oceanography (NIO), Goa, India from Nov. 20-25, 2023 in the scope of the EU Ecobotics.Sea project and the India-Portugal cooperation program. The MRS is co-organized by CSIR-NIO (India), LARSyS/IST/Univ. Lisbon (Portugal) and ISR/Univ. Coimbra (Portugal).
